World War II honorees

The Web site for the World War II memorial in Washington contains a registry of veterans and others who helped during the war.

The profiles Honoree profiles contain the following information:

- Name

- Branch of service

- Hometown

- Honored by

- Activity during WWII

Who's eligible? Any U.S. citizen who helped win World War II, whether a veteran or someone on the home front, is eligible for the registry.

The Registry combines four databases that can be searched for names of those:

- Buried in American Battle Monuments Commission overseas military cemeteries.

- Memorialized on Tablets of the Missing.

- Listed on official War and Navy Department Killed in Service rosters now held by the National Archives and Records Administration.

- Honored by public enrollment in the Registry of Remembrances.
