A day in the park provided a treat Friday for about 500 seniors who are regular patrons of the Oklahoma County Senior Nutrition Program.

They were shuttled from meal sites across the county to a picnic at Joe B. Barnes Regional Park in Midwest City.

The menu featured hot links and watermelon, and box lunches were sent home with each guest.

A band played music for dancing and games were played.

About 200 military veterans among the guests were honored in a special ceremony, with a display that honored deceased veterans as well.
